Job Description:

The Program Manager is responsible for the successful management of scope, non-recurring costs/resources, schedule, subcontract management, hardware DfX (Design for all desirable attributes – Cost, Manufacturability, Assembly, Test, etc), and performance management for the assigned program(s). Responsible for total customer satisfaction and satisfactory financial performance for the development, production, and/or support phases of assigned program(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall life-of-the program successful financial performance. Directs overall performance on the program, assuring that the Triple Constraint of Cost/Scope/Schedule is met and resources necessary to achieve this constraint are appropriately identified and communicated.
  • Manages the customer relationship, maintains customer satisfaction, assures that scope is managed appropriately and contract changes are secured where appropriate. Assures that a high quality reliable system/product is supplied to the customer that meets all customer and applicable industry specification requirements, and meets overall customer expectations.
  • Manages on time achievement of all development milestones (design reviews, submittals, etc.) and on time delivery of products and services.
  • Manages organization and leadership of teams in a matrix environment. Team members may include employees and contractors, customers, and suppliers, at more than one location.
  • Leads team in identifying, quantifying and mitigating risk. Monitors overall performance during all phases of the program and develops and implements corrective action and recovery plans as required.
  • Responsible for development and execution of subcontract management, supported by assigned team members from Supply Chain and Contracts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or related discipline; experienced in aerospace industry, experience in other industries with development and manufacture of complex electronics or electro-mechanical considerations can be considered in lieu of aerospace.
  • Strong knowledge of Aerospace product development processes and program management tools. Knowledge of contracts and federal laws, as well as corporate and project finance. Basic knowledge of Aerospace design assurance guidelines such as DO-178B and DO-254.
  • Leadership, Problem solving, Communication, Negotiation and Organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate large, cross-functional teams to achieve common program objectives. Ability to communicate and make presentation at all levels of the organization, including company President and CEO.
  • Training in PMI (Project Management Institute) methodology, PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, graduate technical or business degree, are desirable.
